reiki
Our bodies are continuously healing themselves—just as our minds and hearts are. By this, I mean we naturally seek happiness and move away from discomfort in nearly everything we do.
Reiki is a practice of gentle touch that involves lightly placing hands in positions on the body to support our natural healing process and promote balance in every aspect of our being.
While many forms of Reiki exist today, the tradition I practice has been passed through the lineage of Mikao Usui, Chujiro Hayashi, Hawayo Takata, Phyllis Lei Furumoto, and Johannes Reindl. I was taught by Susan Mitchell—a student of Hawayo Takata and Phyllis Lei Furumoto.
This specific form of practice is known as Usui Shiki Ryoho, which in English is translated as the Usui System of Natural Healing.
Though it began as a folk art, practitioners are now found in hospitals, hospice centers, and medical settings worldwide.
